The Sigma Beta Clubs of America and its constituent group, the Sigma Beta Clubs of Philadelphia has been in existence in the city of Brotherly Love since the early 1950s as a program for outstanding male high school students. The Sigma Beta Clubs of Philadelphia, under the leadership of Darryl Coates, Nu Sigma Youth Services Executive Director and Brandon R. Brown, Nu Sigma Youth Services Director of Youth and Family Services continues to build opportunities for young men to grow together under the guidance and involvement of positive African-American role models. The purpose of the Club is to provide educational, cultural, social and athletic enrichment programs for its members and to act as a deterrent against juvenile delinquency. The goals of the Sigma Beta Clubs are maturity, positive self-thought, development of potential talents, a sense of brotherhood and camaraderie, community involvement, commitment to service and the development of one’s spirituality. The Sigma Beta Clubs will be organized by Nu Sigma Youth Services and will be open to males between the ages of 13 and 17. Applications are available for those interested.
